DOLE-assisted Tacurong Vendors Association launches Food House and Pasalubong Center

Tacurong City – The Tacurong Terminal Vendors Association (TATVA) celebrated its 6th Year Founding Anniversary with a bang after launching its own Food House and Pasalubong Center which aims to augment the income of  its 42 members.

In a message, DOLE 12 Assistant Regional Director Arlene R. Bisnon said that TATVA will continue to receive full support from the department.

“We recognize the efforts of TATVA for their members who are now full-time businessmen, as low as 2,000 livelihood assistance, beneficiaries are now enjoying the fruits of their labor.  We will continue to support TATVA in their endeavors,” ARD Bisnon said.

TATVA Treasurer Julie Julve also expressed her gratitude to DOLE for its unending support to the association.

“Mula sa aming income, nababayaran na naming ang aming Social Security protection benefits at nagsisimula na kaming magkaroon ng scholarship  para sa mga anak namin. Binabalak na rin naming ang pagpapabahay sa aming mga miyembro,” Julve said.

(Our income made it possible for us to pay our members’ Social Security protection benefits and we started to provide scholarship to our children. We are also planning to establish a low-cost housing for our members.)

City Mayor Lina O. Montilla said that she believes in the determination of TATVA members to have a better life and assured that the local government unit will continue to help the association.

“We would like to thank DOLE for the continued assistance given to the association, your success as an association proves that our collaboration with other government agencies is needed,” Mayor Montilla said.

TATVA is a DILEEP recipient which aims to provide assistance to the informal sector or marginalized self-employed workers with insufficient income.

The DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) is the Department’s contribution to the government agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction.  (End/KForcadilla)
