38 Union Members in Cotabato City get WOPD Training and Orientation on DOLE new policies

Cotabato City- A total of 38 union members of the Notre Dame University-Faculty and Employees Union (NDU-FEU) and Cotalight Workers Union (CWU) were in attendance during the conduct of the Department of Labor and Employment-Cotabato City Field Office (DOLE-CCFO) on Workers Organization Development Program Training/Orientation on DOLE new polices and other Social Benefits on 17 May 2019, at Rebecca’s Place, this city.

 

The said training/orientation was in response to the request of most members of NDU-FEU and CWU who were all expressive in having a new knowledge and updates on labor law and DOLE issuances.

 

Willie Concepcion, the Senior Labor and Employment Officer (SLEO) of DOLE-CCFO, discussed the topics on Republic Act 11210 or Expanded Maternity Leave Law and D.O 198-18 the Implementing Rules of RA 11058 or An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards.

 

Salient information and updates of mandatory social benefits were also presented to the participants on the said training/orientation. Ronald Lee of Pag-ibig Fund discussed the agency’s newest programs and services. He also encouraged the officers and members of the union to invest on MP2 or modified Pag-ibig 2 which has an option of annual dividend payout, a minimum initial savings of Php500.00 and with 5-year maturity period.

 

Sahara Tassnym Magerna of the Social Security System (SSS) presented the mandates and the benefits of member could get from their office. Rachel Navarra and Alfredo Orig of the Philhealth also updated the participants on the latest benefits and health package from their agency.

 

“We ensure that members of the workers’ organization in the city are informed of the latest DOLE issuances, labor laws, and social benefits through our advocacy programs,” said OIC-Chief Lalaine Arbloleda of DOLE-CCFO.

 

The Workers Organization Development Program serves as facilitating mechanism in strengthening trade unions and other workers’ organization. It also provides educational opportunities to officers and members including their dependents for self-development, growth and be effective change agent in their organization and in their personal life.
