DOLE 12 releases 2M livelihood support to 147 beneficiaries in Tantangan

Tantangan, South Cotabato- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 through its South Cotabato Field Office turned over a livelihood check amounting to P2,049,199.00 to Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tantangan as DOLE’s Accredited Co-Partner on 15 July 2019 at Annex Building, Municipal Hall, this municipality.

 

The said livelidood assistance will benefit the 147 individuals who are self-employed with insufficient income.

 

The chosen projects of the beneficiaries include dressmaking, vulcanizing, welding, carwash and automechanic, carpentry, furniture making, massage services, cosmetology/manicure, vegetable gardening, beauty care, food vendings (siomai, balut, barbeque, halo-halo), kakanin production, eatery, baking, chicken frying, and food processing.

 

Marcelina Ogabang who is a first time beneficiary of the department was beaming with joy during the said release.

 

“Nalipay gid kami sa bulig sang DOLE, dako gid ni nga tabang sa amon nga pangabuhian,” said Ogabang

 

(We are really happy with the assistance from DOLE, this could be of great help to our means of living.)

 

Present during the released was Mayor Benjamin Figueroa who expressed his gratitude to the department for the livelihood assistance given to his constituents. “Thank you DOLE for the intervention. This is one of our objectives, to reduce poverty and uplift the living condition of our residents. We promised to constantly monitor the livelihood projects to ensure its impact and sustainability,” Mayor Figueroa said.

 

OIC-Assistant Regional Director  Arlene Bisnon in her message, thanked LGU-Tantangan for the partnership and support to the implementation of DOLE programs and services particularly the DILEEP.

 

“The vow of LGU in helping us monitor the livelihood projects is a welcome news for us. We also want the beneficiaries to take care of their chosen projects and become successful in their business venture,” said ARD Bisnon.

 

The Kabuhayan or Livelihood Program is one the regular projects under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and  Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized worker through self-employment or livelihood undertaking.
