SFFWCI/DOLE 12 set to host 3rd Mindanao Summit of FWC in Gensan

Gen. Santos City- An estimated 800 participants from Zamboanga Peninsula Region (R9), the Northern Mindanao (R10), Davao Region, (R11), SOCCSKSARGEN (R12), CARAGA (R13), and BARMM will be attending the highly anticipated 3rd Mindanao Summit of Family Welfare Committees which is spearheaded by SOCCSKSARGEN Federation of Family Welfare Committees, Inc. (SFFWCI) on September 5-6, 2019 to be held at KCC Convention Center, this city.

Atty. Ma.Karina Perida-Trayvilla, the Director of the DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concern (DOLE-BWSC), is set to join the delegates including the DOLE Regional Directors from Mindanao, other guests and officials of DOLE agencies.

The Family Welfare Committee summit is a biennial event unique to DOLE Mindanao regions. It started in 2015 which were hosted by DOLE Region 11 in Cagayan De Oro City, Davao City in 2017 (DOLE Region 11), and this year’s edition of the said summit, DOLE Region 12 is slated to host such summit in cooperation with the SFFWCI.

Delegates will be apprised on various topics on the two-day summit such as The 10 Dimensions of Family Welfare Program (FWP), The Green Jobs Project, IRR on Expanded Maternity Leave, Implementing the Occupational Safety and Health Law in the DOLE FWP and FWC Plant Level, Mental Health in the Workplace vis-à-vis Employees and Management, and People Management in the 21st Century.

In his message, DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano lauded the Federation of Family Welfare Committees and the DOLE regional offices in Mindanao for continued improvement in the conduct of FWC summit. “This summit is unique in Mindanao were we strategize and innovate activities like this which are adaptive to industrial and social change,” said RD Cano.

FWP seeks to introduce the concept of promoting the welfare of workers and their families as a key to workplace productivity and improved worker-management relations. It is an advocacy program that draws corporate support in promoting workers’ quality of life by adopting a family centered approach in the workplace. End/CDGamboa
