Association, dressmakers, and self-employed receive DOLE livelihood assistance

General Santos City – A group of livelihood beneficiaries with various projects were the latest to avail of the DOLE Integrated and Livelihood Program (DILP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12, amounting to a total of Php1,353,135.00 released on 29 October 2019, this city.

 

Forty five individuals from Barangay Labangal will benefit from Php676,567.00 livelihood project granted by the department. The said assistance, in partnership with Barangay Government Unit of Labangal, hopes to uplift the lives of the qualified beneficiaries by venturing in individual projects such as chorizo and embutido making, coffee grinding, dressmaking, balut vending, welding, halo-halo, puto making, and vulcanizing, among others.

 

Further, Gensan Reserve Electrical Association which is in electrical supply business received electrical supplies amounting to Php317,128.32. The  assistance will help the association improve its sales and respond to the demands of the group’s growing business.

 

On the same date, DOLE 12 awarded sewing machines and dressmaking kits to 11 women who will venture into dressmaking projects. The livelihood project which cost Php237,902.50 will help them earn an extra income while taking care of their respective families .

 

“Okay kaayo ang tabang sa DOLE kay maging produktibo kag makadugang sa income kag dako tabang sa pamilya,” said Cicilia Aspilla, one of the dressmaking project beneficiaries.

 

(DOLE’s assistance was really good, I can be productive and I could gain extra income which will benefit the family.)

 

“We in the department ensures every qualified beneficiaries will be provided with the assistance but it goes with the responsibility of sustaining the project,” said DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano.

 

RD Cano added that the department will help the project’s sustainability through the provision of technical assistance and progress monitoring.

 

DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises. End/CD Gamboa/RS Pastor
