DOLE 12 to jumpstart Gensan women’s group chorizo business

General Santos City – A women’s association in this city is a new beneficiary of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) this, after the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 through its General Santos City Field Office (DOLE-GSCFO) released the livelihood starter kits to Samahan ng mga Babayeng Negosyante (SBN) on 26 October 2020.

 

DOLE 12 Regional Director Raymundo Agravante led the release of P 237,809.30 kabuhayan starter kits for longganiza/chorizo project for twenty-six (26) beneficiaries of SBN. Also present during the release were Chief Fatima Bataga, Labor and Employment Officer III (DOLE-GSCFO), Congresswoman Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles, Barangay Captain Arthur Ryan Dupalco, and officers of the SBN.

 

The said livelihood turn-over is in partnership with the Office of the South Cotabato 1st Congressional District and Barangay Government Unit-Calumpang.

 

The beneficiaries who were holders of National Certificate II on food processing received raw materials and equipment essential in growing and sustaining their chosen project.

 

“Lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa DOLE dahil malaking Tulong ito sa aming mga kababaihan para sa dagdag kita ta kabuhayan naming,” said Evelyn Cantiveros, the SBN president.

In his message, RD Agravante inspired and motivated the members of the association to sustain the livelihood project despite the challenge posed by COVID-19 pandemic. “I hope to see you next year still working on the growth of your chosen business,” he added.

 

DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises. End/CDGamboa/RPastor
