Eleven (11) different private establishments and five (5) government agencies took part in Solidarity Fun Run. There were 288 participants, to wit: SUMIFRU(20), New BERCO Machine Shop (5), Energy Development Corporation (EDC)(3), Stanfilco Makilala Labor Union (24), Stanfilco Kidapawan Employees Union (18), RNF Summit Industries (20), Cotabato Electric Cooperative(10), COTELCO-MPC (9), Central Mindanao Colleges(4), Survive Marketing (9), JBL Lodge(1), JBL Pawnshop (1), Dole-Stanfilco management (1), ALU-TUCP (33), Public Employment Service Office (3), Kidapawan City Government Employees Association(11), Metro Kidapawan Water District (7), Department of Agrarian Reform-NCPO (36), Cotabato Government Employees (1), DOLE XII-NCFO (10), SPES of Kidapawan City (26) and NDKC (36).
The 4-kilometer run is a fund-raising activity conceptualized by (NCTIPC) officers to help the depressed elementary school children in Brgy. Batasan, Makilala, North Cotabato. This aims to provide the children with school supplies and school uniform through “Adopt-a-School” program which will start this coming May 25, 2011.
Part of the amount collected from the Solidarity fun run will be utilized for the Medical and Dental Outreach Program of NCTIPC as part of the Month-long celebration for Labor Day on May 30, 2011 at Brgy. Liliongan, Carmen, North Cotabato. This Medical outreach program will be in partnership with Midsayap Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Medical and Dental Association of North Cotabato.
After the Fun Run a “Livelihood and Diskwento Fairs” was launched at City Plaza Pavillion. There were Six (6) DOLE XII livelihood assisted projects who participated.
The participating DOLE XII assisted projects were the following:
1. Matalam KALIPI (Women) Association – jewelry & bead
2. Mlang Women’s Association - jewelry-making project
3. Makilala Women Association - banana
4. Nuangan Rural Workers’ Association - soft broom
5. Makilala PWD Association - frozen products and “kakanin”
6. MAWU Cooperative - store
Ms. Rochelle Gantuangco, Executive Assistant for Barangay Affairs , represented Mayor Rodolfo Y. Gantuanco as guest of honor,commended the efforts of NCTIPC. She challenged the organizers as well as the participants to create more sustainable projects and programs to uphold this year’s theme “Matuwid na Daan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran Para sa Lahat”. Programs such as this, is what our community needed, she said.
DOLE XII-NCFO Chief, Ms. Edna P. Sales gave the welcome remarks and expressed her appreciation to all unions, workers associations and management in their valuable support in making the affair successful.
To strengthen the Public Private Partnership, NCTIPC Vice Chairman for Management, Mr. Peter Dwight Sorrosa and VP- for Labor Sector ,Mr. Artemio A. Bringas were also present to give their message of support to the program.( From the report of Ms. Helen Mangonon)
