Strong and United shouts the Working Youth of SARGEN


        Kiamba, Saranggani— “Kung hindi tayo, sino ang kikilos para sa atin, Kung hindi tayo , ano ang mangyayarisa atin” said Johnrell  ,a youth leader from Alabel, Saranggani , when challenged by  Vice Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon  to give their individual speech as part of the activity during the Working Youth  Celebration last February 22, 2012 in Kiamba, Saraggani.

            For four (4) years now, the Youth Federation of Saranggani and General Santos City has been celebrating the Working Youth Day with enthusiasm and anticipation that the upcoming year’s celebration is a better one.

       In respond to their vibrant anticipation,  Ms.  Tetchie Alim , focal person of SARGEN field office on the programs for the youth, together with the local Public Employment and Service Officers and  Local Government Youth program managers, planned the two(2) day activity which includes  Skills training on Slipper Making, orientation on disaster preparedness, leadership seminar and team building.

          The Celebration was well attended by the participants from Alabel, Kiamba, and General Santos City.

          In his speech, Vice Governor Solon invited the participants in a small caucus and discussed with them their contribution to the society. He solicited questions to be able to know the needs of the youth from their respective provinces. In closing, Vice Governor Solon assured the group that he will support them whole heartedly and he will specifically raise funds for livelihood projects that they wanted to realize.

       Inspired and empowered, the WYC of SARGEN continued their activity by cleaning up the coastal of Barangay  Tuka in Kiamba.

        Barangay Tuka is a three (3) kilometer walk from the downtown area. Without hesitations, the 100 future young leaders took their individual strides and enjoyed the walk with the aim of improving not only their way of life but also the environment around them for a better future.
