DOLE 12’s pledging session for Typhoon Yolanda survivors raises more than 200 thousand pesos

Koronadal City - Graced by Honorable Secretary of Labor and Employment Rosalinda D. Baldoz, the Social Partners Forum and Pledging Session for Typhoon Yolanda survivors organized last November 25, 2013 by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 and headed by regional director Ofelia B. Domingo generated a total of two hundred eight thousand and nine hundred pesos (P208,900.00).

Secretary Baldoz thanked the management and labor representatives from the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC), Provincial Tripartite Industrial Peace Councils (PTIPCs), Industry Tripartite Councils (ITC-Fishing and Allied Services, Tourism, Academe and Plantation), Sugar District Tripartite Council in North Cotabato, OSHNET XII, PMAP, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the cash, checks and pledges  she received for Typhoon Yolanda survivors.

In her message, Sec. Baldoz stated that the facility to adjust and convert the stakeholders’ forum to a pledging session for the Yolanda survivors is commendable and reinforces the Filipino bayanihan and damayan spirit.

She added that tripartism and social dialogue have been redefined beyond the traditional confines of labor-management relations, perhaps even beyond the ILO context of social dialogue and tripartite engagement when ILO Convention 144 was adopted.

Further, she said that the said Stakeholders Forum will be duplicated all over and congratulated Region XII for starting the ball rolling.

The amount generated will fund educational scholarship, emergency employment and livelihood of survivors in the identified barangay heavily devastated by Typhoon Yolanda.

More than 300 participants attended the said event held at Cinco Niñas, Koronadal City.  (obd)
