Tacurongnons get P1.56M worth of Kabuhayan Starter Kits

Tacurong City - total of P1,560,000 worth of DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kits were distributed to 156 individuals in Tacurong City on March 17, 2017. The turnover ceremony on March 17 was conducted for the enlisted program beneficiaries in the year 2016. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) had allotted P1.8 million pesos for 180 beneficiaries. Out of 180, only 156 received their kits during the turnover. The remaining 24 individuals who are market laborer are set to receive their kits next quarter. Of the 156 beneficiaries, majority or 37 were dressmakers who availed sewing machines; followed by 21 welders who received welding machines. Other livelihood ventures include hog-raising (18 beneficiaries); electrical installation & repair (18); corn vending (18); carpentry (13); carenderia (12); balut vending (3); kakanin vending (3); bibingka making; vulcanizing (3); mechanic (2); baking (2); poultry raising (1); puto kutsinta making (1); halo-halo vending (1); and shake vending (1). Beneficiaries are composed parents of child laborers, persons with disability, informal sector, and former overseas Filipino workers. Each individual received P10,000 worth of tools, equipment, and supplies depending on their proposed or existing livelihood ventures. Ricky Baculod of Barangay Poblacion was among the electricians who received new tools: Daku guid nga butang nga may dugang kami nga mga gamit para sa amon pagpangabuhi. Baculod was also one of the graduates of Electrical Installation and Repair NCII facilitated by the LGU in partnership with TESDA. Partnerships The provision of Kabuhayan Starter Kits is a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) funded through the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) Program. The BUB Program is under the Department of Interior and Local Government. Through a Memorandum of Agreement, DOLE transferred the funds to LGU-Tacurong. The LGU then worked on the procurement of the tools and equipment for the beneficiaries’ kits. Moreover, the Tacurong Public Employment Service Office (PESO) facilitated the enlistment and orientation of qualified beneficiaries for the program. It also assisted beneficiaries in filling in individual profile forms and business proposals. Moreover, the City Social Welfare and Development Office assisted in identifying PWD beneficiaries. DOLE-Sultan Kudarat Director Arlene Bisnon expressed her gratitude to the LGU for the productive partnership. She said that the partnership will not end now that the starter kits have been distributed. “We will monitor the status of each livelihood venture to make sure that it is sustainable,” she said. “Amon guid nga ginapangamuyo nga ang inyo nga mga negosyo mag-lambo para sa inyo pamilya. Tani gamiton ninyo ni adlaw-adlaw sa pagpangabuhi,” addressed Mayor Lina Montilla to the beneficiaries during the turnover ceremony. Vice Mayor Joseph George Lechonsito, Councilors David Salazar, Welson Ferrer, Lalaine Montilla, and Charito Collado, and DILG Officer Alberto Sero l also expressed their support to the beneficiaries during the program.
