NRCO Launches ISP Business Plan Competition in SOCCSKSARGEN

General Santos City – In a bid to encourage qualified seafarers to venture into social entrepreneurship and support the growth of jobs in their hometowns and communities, the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) in partnership with Integrated Seafarers of the Philippines (ISP) launched the third round of business plan competition for seafarers and their families in Region 12.

DOLE XII Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano, CESO IV said seafarers and their families in the region can join the competition and make it an opportunity to change their lives into a better one.

“We are encouraging our seafarers to grab this once in a lifetime chance to make their dreams to own a business come true, we hope a winner will come from our region,” Director Cano said.

       Dubbed as “From Seafarers to Entrepreneurs: The 2017 NRCO-ISP Business Plan Competition (Harnessing Seafarers’ Capacities for Business Enterprises Development)”,       This Competition is open to (a) Active seafarers preferably those who are planning to retire from sea life, and (b) Inactive seafarers who have been in the Philippines for not more than five years and interested to venture into entrepreneurship. Interested participants may join the competition in solo, pairs or by groups (minimum of 3 members). Competition entrants, whether individually or members of a team, must be Filipino and 25 years old or older.

 Competition entrants must complete an entry form to enter the Competition. The entry form is downloadable at the NRCO website:

 Open to start-up business plan only. Acceptance of entries is on 14 June 2017 to 08 September 201, and awarding of the prizes will be on 10 November 2017.

The Top 10 winners will receive incentives and other consolation prizes, and the grand winner will get P500,000 cash prize.

 The Integrated Seafarers of the Philippines is a non-stock and non-profit organization formed and established for the welfare of Filipino seafarers and their families. It aims to create avenues where the seafarers' families can improve their lives while the seafarers


are on active duty; and to provide ways for their easier social reintegration after the culmination of their overseas jobs.

The NRCO, on the other hand, is mandated to develop, promote and implement a national agenda on sustainable return and reintegration to address the multi-faceted reintegration needs of returning Overseas Filipino Workers and their families, including the development of their hometowns and/or communities.
