Aleosan Mayor supports creation of Barangay Employment Service Coordinators (BESC) in his municipali

Kidapawan City –  The local government unit of Aleosan, Cotabato under Mayor Vicente Sorupia is now committed to support the creation of the Barangay Employment Service Coordinators (BESC) which will easily facilitate the implementation of DOLE Programs and services to far-flung barangays.

Mayor Sorupia said having employment coordinators will help in solving unemployment in the barangays and other stakeholders will be informed about livelihood and job opportunities.

“We support the creation of BESC in our locality and with the continued assistance from DOLE we are assured that our stakeholders will be given priority,” Mayor Sorupia said.

Eight (8) Barangay Chairmen with their respective technical/ focal person for employment have undergone orientation on DOLE Programs and services and 219 vulnerable workers were also oriented on business management and business plan preparation facilitated by the DOLE 12-North Cotabato Field Office led by Ms Marjorie P. Latoja.

Aleosan is a 3rd class municipality and farming is the main source of income by most of its residents.

Meanwhile, a total of 21 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) trooped to PESO-Mlang, North Cotabato on February 15, 2018 to attend the orientation on  DOLE programs and services with emphasis on “kabuhayan”or livelihood assistance.  Majority of the IDPs were ambulant vendors and fishermen who were either married to christians or have friends and relatives that are residents of   Mlang North Cotabato.  Meantime that they have no regular source of income, they earn their living in vending, working as salesladies, cooks and other trades.

PESO Manager Mary Ann Cortado and staff assisted by DOLE XII –NCFO IDP focal person Conrado Artatez facilitated the profiling and conduct of learning session on governments’ programs and services that will suit their needs, qualifications, interests and inclination.
