RTWPB XII UPCOMING PUBLIC HEARING & CONSULTATION ON MINIMUM WAGE ISSUE

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board XII (RTWPB XII) will be holding a public hearing/consultation on minimum wage adjustments on 20 March 2018 from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M. at Phela Grande Hotel and Convention Center, Magsaysay Avenue, Corner Atis Street, General Santos City.

Sisinio B. Cano, the RTWPB XII Chairperson and DOLE Regional Director, clarifies that the public hearing/consultation is being done motu proprio by the Board to determine whether a new wage order should be issued considering the prevailing socio-economic condition of the region and given the period of effectivity of the last wage order that took effect last October 9, 2016.   He explained that under the Amended Rules of Procedure on Minimum Wage Fixing, the Board may initiate the minimum wage review process either any of the two conditions, namely; (1) motu proprio by the Board, or (2) by virtue of a petition filed.

Director Cano invites all interested parties to attend the said public hearing and consultation and encourages them to submit to RTWPB XII their position papers relative to the minimum wage issue on or before the scheduled activity.

To date, the prevailing minimum daily wage rates effective October 9, 2016 under Wage Order No. RBXII-19 are the following:  P 295.00 for Non-Agriculture Workers; and, P272.00 for workers in Agriculture/Retail/Service Establishments.
