PRIVATE SECTOR WORKERS IN REGION XII GRANTED PAY HIKE

Workers in the private sector will soon receive a wage increase in their daily minimum wage ranging from P16.00 to P18.00 daily after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board XII (RTWPB XII) issued Wage Order No. RB XII-20 on 13 April 2018.  Under the new Wage Order, workers who are receiving the daily minimum wage rate will get an increase in their daily minimum basic pay of 18.00 pesos for Agriculture/Retail/Service establishment and 16.00 pesos for Non-Agriculture Sector.

DOLE XII Director Sisinio B. Cano, who is the Chairman of the RTWPB XII, disclosed that the decision was done motu proprio by the Board after determining the need to provide workers with immediate relief measures to enable them cope-up with the rising cost of living without impairing the viability of business and industry.

Director Cano explained that the new Wage Order will take effect fifteen days after its publication in a newspaper.  “Hence, upon the effectivity of the new Wage Order, the new daily minimum wage shall be 311.00 pesos for workers in the Non-Agriculture Sector and 290.00 pesos for workers in the Agriculture/Retail/Service sector”, he added.

The new wage order has been submitted to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) for review before its publication.(RAG)
