Tacurong City Drug Surrenderees Find New Hope Through DOLE

Tacurong City – Alias “Nonoy”, a drug surrenderee from this city is now more determined to change his life for the better after being chosen as one of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) beneficiary.

Nonoy, who is a member of the  Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan Community-Based Rehabilitation Program for Drug Surrenderees (UBAS) with three (3) children was addicted to drugs because of his family and financial problems for almost 5 years.

“Nagapasalamat ko sa amon simbahan kay tungod sa ila nakita ko man ang kasanag kag gusto ko na makatabang sa akon pamilya, Salamat man sa DOLE sa ila nga programa para makaumpisa ako makapananum gulay upod ang akon mga kabataan,” Nonoy said.

(I would like to thank our church leaders for making me see the light, this time I would really like to help my family.  I also thank DOLE for their livelihood program, now I can grow vegetables with the help of my children and make it as our source of living,)

Twenty-four (24) drug surrenderees are expected to receive their livelihood assistance through LGU- Tacurong in which their chosen livelihood projects include vegetable gardening ,carenderia, welding, vulcanizing and selling of native products.

Amount released for the beneficiaries which also include persons with disability (PWDs)and informal sector totalled to P780,789.00

In other news, two (2) beneficiaries of the AFP/PNP Killed in Action and Wounded in Action (KIA/WIA) Program from President Quirino and Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat Province also received livelihood assistance from DOLE.

Mr. Oscar Bernaldez  received P13,800.00 for his piggery project and Ms Alma Villaruel received P20,000.00 for her Duck raising project.

 

 

 

While, 131 residents of Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat are also now ready to embark on their new income generating projects after its local government unit received the DILEEP Livelihood assistance amounting to P1,315,862.00
