Region 12 “Sa Pinas IKaw ang Mam at Sir” Beneficiaries Now Ready to Teach

Koronadal City – Nineteen (19) “Sa Pinas Ikaw ang Mam at Sir”(SPIMS) beneficiaries here recently received their teaching kits and are now ready to share their knowledge as teachers in different public schools  in the region.

In his message, Hernan Ysrael Pleño, a former Overseas Filipino Worker from Saudi Arabia, LET passer and now a teacher at the Koronadal National Comprehensive High School said that SPIMS program made a difference in the lives of educators who worked as household service workers, or factory workers abroad.

“This opportunity is life changing, we thought that there was no hope for us in our own country which was the main reason we opted to go abroad.  When we were informed about SPIMS, all we have to do is coordinate with DOLE- NRCO and everything came into place. We are very thankful for the support and assistance, and we continue to encourage Filipino teachers to come home and avail of this program,” Pleño

Pleño and other fellow SPIMS beneficiaries received their own HP Laptop and EPSON Printer worth P20,000 as their teaching kits during a turnover ceremony led by DOLE 12 Assistant Regional Director Yahya A. Centi.

ARD Centi encouraged SPIMS beneficiaries to inform other Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers who are working abroad to avail of the program.

“DOLE will be ready to help our teachers in coordination with DepEd, teachers are needed here in our country.  We also urge our beneficiaries to make use of the teaching kits to educate our future workforce,” ARD Centi said.
