Cooperative in President Roxas receives 1M livelihood assistance

Kidapawan City- In its bid to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 12 released a livelihood assistance under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) amounting to P1, 164,063 to members of the Household Cooperative Society on August 3, 2018 held at the DOLE-North Cotabato Field Office (NCFO), this city.

 

DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano spearheaded the turnover of check together with NCFO head Marjorie Latoja. RD Cano said the assistance shall fund the individual projects of 57 members of Household Cooperative Society, a workers’ association in President Roxas, Cotabato.

 

“The livelihood assistance shall be of great help to augment the daily income of the 57 members of the cooperative,” RD Cano said. He added that some of the individual projects include sari-sari store, kakanin vending, e-loading business, hog raising, fish and barbecue vending, and bigasan (rice-retailing).

 

Aside from the individual starter kits, beneficiaries will also be given a two-day Basic Entrepreneurship Development Training, Values Formation, Simple Record/Bookkeeping, and Rapid Savings Mobilization Technique. Said training aims to enhance the bookkeeping and basic records-keeping skills of the beneficiaries.

 

DILEEP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
