LGU Polomolok receives 2M in DOLE livelihood assistance

Polomolok, South Cotabato- With the goal of contributing to poverty reduction and to reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 12 released a livelihood assistance under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) amounting to P2, 052,228 to the Local Government Unit of Polomolok in South Cotabato.

 

DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano led the turnover of check together with DOLE-South Cotabato Field Office livelihood focal Odyssa Saltiga. Mayor Honey L. Lumayag-Matti received the check which will fund the individual projects of 170 beneficiaries.

 

The beneficiaries were of varied type from self-employed with insufficient income, underemployed, farmers, youth, women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, parents or guardians of child laborers, and even the surfacing personalities involved in illegal drugs.

 

“The livelihood assistance given to you will serve as augmentation to your daily income considering the significant price increase of basic commodity.” RD Cano said. He added that chosen individual projects of the beneficiaries include among others, rolling stores, mini carenderia, mini refreshment, food processing, and kakanin making.

 

Aside from the individual starter kits, beneficiaries will also be given a two-day Capability Building Training on Food Handling, Simple Bookkeeping and Financial Literacy Seminar. Said training aims to enhance beneficiaries’ bookkeeping and basic records-keeping skills and food sanitary procedures.

 

DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
