DOLE 12 releases 12M livelihood assistance in Cotabato

Kidapawan City- In its bid to contribute to poverty reduction and decrease the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 12 released livelihood assistance amounting to P12,301,945.55 to 747 beneficiaries in several municipalities of Cotabato Province under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) on October 12, 2018.

 

The said amount was turned over to different barangay and local government units as Accredited Co-Partners (ACPs) of DOLE 12 in implementing the livelihood projects. Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU)-Poblacion 3 in Midsayap received two separate grants amounting to P 1,466,810.05 and P 1,222,709.50, respectively; BLGU New Janiuay in Mlang- P486,250.00; Tulunan Unified Women’s Initiative for Development in Tulunan-P382,400; BLGU Kisante for Kisante Flowers and Gardeners Association-  P461,142.00; BLGU Naje in Arakan-P650,445.00; Local Government Unit (LGU)-Pigcawayan -P3, 622,973.00, and LGU-Makilala -P 4,009,216.00.

 

 

DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano, together with NCFO head Marjorie Latoja spearheaded the turnover of checks and starter kits to ACPs. Also present during the release were Local Chief Executives and the Municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers. RD Cano said the assistance shall fund the individual and group projects of 747 beneficiaries.

 

“I would like to thank our ACPs for the strong support and partnership in the implementation of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program. ACPs play a vital role in the success of DILEEP,” RD Cano said. He added that some of the group and individual projects include flower propagation, rice-retailing, livestock raising, sari-sari store, kakanin, palamig (refreshment), assorted toys and school supplies vending.

 

DILEEP of DOLE continues to help the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
