GIP beneficiary gets employment opportunity in Local Government

Koronadal City- With patience and perseverance, nothing is impossible.” A motivating line that marks the character of one of the beneficiaries of Government Internship Program (GIP) in the province of South Cotabato.

She is Mary Jane B. Baduyos, a proud young lady who got to have experience working in the government assigned in the Local Government Unit of Banga.

Her drive in applying for the said program is overcoming poverty wherein their family’s source of income is just from her father’s wages as farm laborer.

She graduated her elementary studies at Naci Elementary School (Surallah, South Cotabato) and San Jose National High School for her secondary studies. She finished her two years of associate in Computer Technology at the Holy Child College of Information Technology in Surallah, South Cotabato.

As a beneficiary of GIP, Mary Jane’s assignment was profiling child laborer laborers, children at risks to child labor, and parents of child laborers in the remote barangays of Banga.

“I gained a lot of confidence through coordination to barangay officials and in the conduct of interviews to parents and children in different communities. I realized that working in the government is also fun; having an experience travelling to remote barangays and travelling in hilly communities of my town,” said Baduyos.

Her good work attitude has caught the attention of LGU Banga and rewarded her of a job in LGU-Banga come this 2019.

“Before I really intend to pursue other career but with my experience as GIP, this short yet productive public work experience inspired me to continue working with the government as a public servant,” added Baduyos.

“We believe that GIP experience helped Mary Jane in developing her confidence and demonstrate her talents and skills while working in the government service,” said Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano. He also commended LGU Banga for giving job opportunity to GIP beneficiaries like Mary Jane who showed great potential and right attitude towards work.

GIP aims to provide young workers particularly the poor or indigent and young workers an opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service with the ultimate objective of attracting the best and the brightest who want to pursue a career in government service, particularly in the fields and disciplines related to labor and employment.
