Alabel, Sarangani- In its effort to contribute in poverty reduction and reduce the impact of COVID-19 to informal economy, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 awarded P1,818,821.00 worth of kabuhayan starter kits to one hundred-three (103) individuals form the Barangay Local Government Units of Bagacay and Spring, this municipality.
No less than the Regional Director Raymundo Agravante together with OIC Domingo Baron of DOLE-Sarangani Field Office were present during the release of the said assistance. Also present were Local Government and BLGU officials, PESO Manger Giselle Cahumnas, and Senior LEO Maria Ligaya Balongo.
Beneficiaries who were mostly Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, workers with insufficient income, displaced workers. and women venture on projects that include bakery, carpentry, construction labor services, furniture making, mechanic and small engine repair, calan with blower making, dressmaking, cosmetology, welding services, vulcanizing, electrical installation, and among others.
In his message, RD Agravante reminded beneficiaries on their responsibilities in making the chosen livelihood projects sustainable and marketable as per stated in the signed Kabuhayan Agreement.
“I congratulate not only the beneficiaries but also our Accredited Co-Partners for the speedy procurement process despite the movement restrictions brought by pandemic,” added RD Agravante.
DILP or Kabuhayan is a grant assistance for capacity-building on livelihood for the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, either for individual or group livelihood projects. End/CDGamboa/MLBalongo
