Kidapawan City- A total of 4,030 workers from the informal sector of Kidapawan City will benefit from Php Php 13,137,800.00 million of emergency employment from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Dssadvantaged workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment.

The said amount was released by OIC-Assistant Regional Director Arlene Bisnon to Barangay Manongol, Kidapawan City as DOLE 12’s Accredited Co-Partner. Present during the ceremonial turn-over was Mayor Joseph Evangelista, ABC President/City Councilor Morgan Melodias, DOLE-North Cotabato Field Office Head, Marjorie Latoja, and PESO Manager Herminia Infanta.

The beneficiaries worked for a minimum of 10 days and received P326.00 daily salary, the prevailing mimimum wage rate in the region. Each beneficiary enjoyed an amount of P3,260.00 after their 10-day work period.

In his message, Mayor Evangelista reminded the beneficiaries to use their salaries in buying basic needs of the family and avoid using it for unessentiual wants.

“Bal-an nako nga ang ma sweldo niyo gikan sa DOLE gamay ra jud, pero sa karon nga panahuna nga may krisis, daku na gid nga tabang para sa mga pobre sa Kidapawan,” added Mayor Evangelista.

(I know the salary that you will get from DOLE is just meager but in this time of crisis, it’s really a big help especially for the poor citizens of Kidapawan.)

“Dako gid nga bulig ang TUPAD kay budlay kag gamay ang income sang pamasada karon sang mga tricycle driver nga pareho ko,” said Joel a tricycle-driver beneficiary.

(TUPAD is a big help for us tricycle drivers because our income now is limited.)

“We are thankful for the partnership with LGU Kidapawan in providing immediate assistance to our vulnerable workers greatly affected by pandemic COVID-19. To date this is the biggest one-time TUPAD assistance given to our partner and we are happy because more workers will benefit on this,” said OIC-ARD Bisnon.

TUPAD is one of the components of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) which is a community-based  (municipality/barangay) package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, the underemployed and the unemployed poor for a minimum of 10 days but not to exceed 90 days depending on the work to be performed.End/CDGamboa/MPLatoja
