Tantangan, South Cotabato – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 through its DOLE-South Cotabato Field Office facilitated the release of livelihood check amounting to P 651,374.00 to the Barangay Local Government Unit-Dumadalig, this municipality on 11 September 2020.
DOLE 12 Regional Director Raymundo Agravante handed over the check to BLGU-Dumadalig Barangay Captain Johnny Alada. Also present during the said turn-over were DOLE-SCFO Provincial Director Arlene Bisnon and Tantangan Vice Mayor Timee-Joy Torres-Gonzales.
The livelihood assistance will benefit fifty (50) beneficiaries from the informal sector like individuals with insufficient income, women, senior citizens, and farmers.
Beneficiaries’ chosen kabuhayan projects were siomai production, kakanin and cassava cake making, food processing, carenderia, baking, dressmaking, barber shop, welding services, vulcanizing, fried chicken vending, carpentry, hollow block making, among others.
Vice Mayor Torres-Gonzales was all praises with the department and acknowledged the contribution of DOLE in the economic recovery of affected workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Salamat talaga sa DOLE, malaking tulong ito sa mga mahihirap naming mamayan sa bayan,” added Vice Mayor Torres-Gonzales. (Thank you, DOLE, this is a great help to our poor citizens.)
“We really hope that the livelihood will not be just a temporary source of income, instead we will be happy assisting the beneficiaries once more when they sustain their livelihood enterprise,” said RD Agravante.
