Tacurong City- A total of 500 displaced workers in the province of Sultan Kudarat will benefit from DOLE-Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa mga Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers Program amounting to Php 1,555,000.00.
The said amount was released by the DOLE-Sultan Kudarat Field Office (SKFO) to the Accredited Co-Partners in different barangays in Sultan Kudarat province.
During the check release, Mary Jane Hoksuan, head of DOLE-SKFO said that TUPAD is a partnership between the DOLE and the Barangay units which will provide source of income for the victims of natural calamities.
“The beneficiaries were given an opportunity to work for 10 days and entitled them to receive the prevailing minimum wage rate in the region. This will also provide financial support to their families,” said Hoksuan.
The ACPs were Barangay Libertas (Columbio), Barangay D’ledesma (Tacurong City), Kalawag II (isulan), Barangay Antong (Lutayan), Barangay Daluga (Bagumbayan), Barangay Daladap (Esperanza), Barangay Poblacion (President Quirino) and Barangay Lilit (Lambayong).
TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum of 10 days but not to exceed 90 days depending on the nature of work to be performed.
In another news, sixty-nine establishments in the municipalities of Lebak and Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat were oriented with the various programs and services of the Department through the Labor and Employment Education Services conducted by DOLE-SKFO.
The said orientation is part of the intensified efforts of DOLE to inform the public with the latest issuances of DOLE in order for them to comply the general labor and occupational safety and health standards.
