Gen. Santos City- The recently concluded 3rd Mindanao Family Welfare Committees Summit has bagged success in gathering a total of 724 delegates coming from the private companies and other stakeholders in Mindanao held at KCC Convention Center on September 5-6, 2019.
The conduct of the Mindano-wide summit is spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 and the SOCCSKSARGEN Federation of Family Welfare Committees, Inc. (SFFWCI) with the theme, “Breakthrough to Excellence: Expanding Family Welfare Program to Greater Heights.”
Delegates were apprised on various topics on the two-day summit such as The 10 Dimensions of Family Welfare Program (FWP), The Green Jobs Project, IRR on Expanded Maternity Leave, Implementing the Occupational Safety and Health Law in the DOLE FWP and FWC Plant Level, Mental Health in the Workplace vis-à-vis Employees and Management, and People Management in the 21st Century.
The delegates were also given an opportunity to benchmark and to witness the companies in region 12 with best practices on the implementation of FWP. These companies are Gensan Shipyard and Machine Works, Inc., Gensan Doctors Hospital, Inc., General Tuna Corporation, Sarangani Energy Corporation, Dole Philippines, Inc., and Dole-Stanfilco SOCCSKSARGEN Zone.
The event was attended by Atty. Ma. Katrina Perida-Trayvilla, the Director of the DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concern (DOLE-BWSC), the DOLE Regional Directors of Mindanao led by DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano together with their FWP focal persons, FWC federation presidents, and key officials from the city government of General Santos.
In her message, Atty. Trayvilla happily announced the increase of budget for FWP by 4% in 2020. She also praised the FWP advocates in Mindanao for continued conduct of the said summit.
“The FWP advocates and your respective federations are worthy of emulation since this is not yet duplicated in the Visayas and Luzon,” said Atty. Trayvilla.
Further, RD Sisinio Cano also congratulated the regional federation of FWCs in Mindanao for their unwavering support to the summit which is instrumental to its success.
The FWC Summit is a biennial event unique in DOLE Mindanao regions which aim to strengthen and maintain the strong partnership among Mindanao Region’s Family Welfare Committees in the implementation of the department’s FWP. End/CDGamboa
