Aleosan, Cotabato Province- In its bid to help vulnerable and disadvantaged workers during pandemic time, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 turned-over the livelihood check amounting to Php 734,467.00 to the Local Government Unit of Aleosan, this province, on 20 August 2020.

Regional Director Raymundo Agravante personally handed the check to LGU-Aleosan as the department’s Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) represented by the municipal mayor Vicente Sorupia. Chief Marjorie Latoja of DOLE-North Cotabato Field Office (DOLE-NCFO) and PESO Manager Elvin Bolivar acted as witnesses on the said release.

The said livelihood assistance will benefit 48 beneficiaries coming from the informal sector of the Aleosan town. Chosen projects of the beneficiaries were dressmaking, welding, food production, gardening, food vending, plumbing, and among others.

“Ampingan jud namo ang livelihood project kay daku ni nga tabang karon nga naay pandemya,” beneficiary Raul said.

(We will try our best to sustain the livelihood project because this is a great help for us especially in this time of pandemic).

In his message, RD Agravante emphasized that the department continue to process livelihood proposals of its ACPs so as to augment the income of affected workers due to COVID-19. “Even if there are several strict health protocols, our personnel in the field offices are working hard to process and provide the necessary livelihood assistance for our workers, both formal and informal sector,” added RD Agravante.

DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises. End/CDGamboa/MPLatoja
