Koronadal City- A total of 13 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from Region 12 unanimously pushed for the increase of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XII’s budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2020.
This, after the said CSOs convened during a budget consultation held at Casa Gemma Hotel, this city, on 22 February 2019.
DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano thanked the CSOs for their positive response and support in realizing the Department’s proposed budget.
He said that for 2020, the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), both flagship programs of the Department, have a proposed budget amounting to PhP65.6 million and Php81.8 million, respectively.
“We are proposing for the increase of these two flagship programs to cater more beneficiaries next year, considering the significant decrease this 2019,” said RD Cano.
In support to the budget, the CSOs signed a Budget Partnership Agreement with DOLE XII and issued a resolution entitled “Strongly Endorsing the 2020 Proposed DOLE XII Budget” addressed to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) XII, Regional Development Council (RDC) through the Regional Social Development Committee (RSDC) XII and the DOLE Central Office.
CSOs play an important role in enhancing transparency and good governance in developing countries by contributing to increased public consultation on issues surrounding the formulation and implementation of government budget as well as supporting greater transparency of public revenue.
