Pigcawayan, Cotabato Province – In its bid to augment the income of vulnerable and disadvantaged workers during this pandemic, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 spearheaded the release of P 947,926.00 worth of kabuhayan starter kits for fifty-five (55) beneficiaries from this municipality on 24 August 2020.
DOLE 12 Regional Director Raymundo Agravante and LGU-Pigcawayan Mayor Jean Dino Roque personally witnessed the said turn-over. Also present during the release were DOLE-NCFO Chief Marjorie Latoja and PESO Manager Beverly Pacete-Yu.
Beneficiaries’ chosen livelihood projects were welding, plumbing, balut vending, dressmaking, carinderia, carpentry, nego-kart, and among others.
“Timing gid kaayo ang paghatag sang DOLE sa amon sang livelihood karon nga ara sang pandemya. Makabulig gid ni kag dugang gid ni nga income,” said beneficiary Rosie.
(The DOLE livelihood assistance is very timely especially this time of pandemic. This really could help us earn an added income.)
“We are really trying to reach every disadvantaged or low-income workers from the informal sector of the region. Provision of livelihood assistance through DILP is the department’s immediate response in helping this sector boost economic activities despite the impact brought by COVID-19,” said RD Agravante.
DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program or DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
