KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – In a bid to help graduating students get awareness on general labor standards, the Department of Labor and Employment- South Cotabato Field Office (DOLE-SCFO) spearheaded the advocacy seminars to two colleges in Koronadal City through its Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) program.

Engr. Edwin Morales, the chief of DOLE-SCFO oriented 509 graduating students of Ramon Magsaysay Colleges-Marbel, Inc. (RMMC-MI) on General Labor Standards while Odyssa Saltiga, Labor Employment Officer III, gave lectures on Employment Tools, ABCs in Interview, and Career Planning. The said advocacies were conducted at KCC Mall of Marbel Convention Hall on January 31, 2019.

Further, 72 graduating students of Marvelous College of Technology , Inc. (MTCI) were oriented on General Labor Standards, Employment Tools, Key Employment Generators, emerging Industries, emerging Jobs, Top 10 High Paying Jobs in the Philippines, 21st Century Skills Requirement, and Career Planning. Engr. Louie Esparagoza (Senior LEO) and Odyssa Saltiga of DOLE-SCFO facilitated the orientation and career coaching of the said students.

“We are giving these free seminars to graduating students to help equip them with the knowledge of DOLE programs and services so they will not be only job ready but workers’ rights ready as well,” said DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano.

The LEGS seminar is given to graduating students of vocational or baccalaureate courses, who would sooner join the labor force are given. This will help them become familiar with DOLE’s services on employment facilitation, workers protection and social security coverage for the employees.
