Koronadal City- In line with DOLE Department Circular No. 1 Series of 2019 or Guidelines on the Issuance of DOLE Certiifcation as a requirement for Application for Payment of Unemployment Insurance or Involuntary Separation Benefit, the Department of Labor and Employment in Region 12 continue to issue said Certification to workers who were terminated from employment.
The said certification is one of the requirements of the workers who wishes to avail the Social Security System’s (SSS) Unemployment Benefits. The SSS unemployment benefits program provides cash assistance to involuntary separated including the household workers or “kasambahay,” and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). The cash grant is worth fifty percent of the members’ monthly salary credit which is provided for two months.
Workers to qualify need at least 36 monthly contributions in SSS, sixty years old and below, and has no application or not received unemployment checks for the last three years.
Reasons for involuntary separation may include, but not limited to authorized/just causes under articles 298-300 of Presidential Decree No. 442 or the labor Code of the Philippines, economic downturm, natural or human induced calamities/disasters, and other causes as determined by DOLE and SSS.
“The covid-19 pandemic will bring some conservative losses to business establishments in the region which in turn will likely retrench workers. The unemployment benefit will help affected workers financially while looking for a new employment opportunities,” said Regional Director Raymundo Agravante.
Qualified workers are advised to secure the certification in DOLE field offices where their employers are located while OFWs at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office. End/CDGamboa
