Tulunan, Cotabato- In its bid to end local armed conflict and provide livelihood opportunities to informal sectors in the region, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 released P646,516.00 livelihood aid to twenty-six (26) beneficiaries of Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) Banayal, this municipality on 26 February 2021.
The said amount was released during the Serbisyo Caravan in the municipality of Tulunan as part of the Regional Task Force-End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) activity spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Cotabato and Local Government of Tulunan.
Beneficiaries’ chosen livelihood projects include balut and barbecue vending, welding, carwash, among others.
Further, DOLE 12 through Regional Director Raymundo Agravante and DOLE-North Cotabato Field Office Head Marjorie Latoja conferred thecertificate ofregistration to Banayal Persons with Disability Association which entitles the workers group’s legal personality and the right to avail the livelihood assistance from the Department.
Certificates of Good Standing were also given to Banayal Farmers’ Association and Banayal Peace and Development Farmers Volunteers’ Association.
In his message, RD Agravante lauded the Cotabato PGU and LGU Tulunan in showing an unwavering pledge in helping national agencies, PNP, and the AFP in realizing the efforts of RTF-ELCAC in eliminating local armed conflict in the region.
“The Department is true to its commitment and one with ELCAC in helping our communities foster lasting peace by providing livelihood opportunities and bringing our flagship programs and services closer to the farthest citizens of SOCSKSARGEN,” added RD Agravante.
Among agencies present during the Local Serbisyo Caravan were DOLE DA, DOST, DTI, DPWH, BFAR, OPVET, LTO, TESDA, PDRRM, PNP, BFP, DOH, DSWD, PNP, 1002nd Infantry Brigade and the 39th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
RTF-ELCAC is the regional counterpart of NTF-ELCAC and was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 70 or the institutionalized whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace by way of creating national task force and adopting peace framework in ending local armed conflict in the country.
