Gen. Santos City- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 joined the members of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in the Review and Updating of Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management (RDRRM) Plan held at Phela Grande Hotel, this city, on 30 September-01 October 2019.

RDRRM Plan of SOCCSKSARGEN which is set until year 2025 outlines the Four Thematic Areas of DRRM namely; (1) Prevention and Mitigation, (2) Preparedness, (3) Response, and (4) Rehabilitation and Recovery.

DOLE 12 is under the fourth thematic area or Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery with the National Economic Development Auntority (NEDA) 12 as its lead agency. The said area focuses on post disaster interventions to ensure that the normal level of functioning of the affected communities and areas are restored by rebuilding livelihood and employment, damaged infrastructure and lifeline facilities, environment and water resources amanagement, housing and resettlement.

The department helps affected communities through its provision of emergency employment provided under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers. When fully recovered, victims of calamities could also avail of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program.

In her message, Office the Civil Defense 12 Regional Director Minda Morante emphasized the importance of a safer, adaptive, and  disaster-resilient RDDRM Plan to empower communities in achieving sustainable development.

The reviewed and updated RDRRM Plan is set to be presented to the Regional Development Council 12  for approval and adoption on the last quarter of 2019. End/CDGamboa
