Koronadal City- In its bid to capacitate new Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers in the region, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 conducted a webinar series of PESO-Basic Employment Service Training (BEST) on 29 September and will run until October 13, 2020.
The PESO-BEST this year is done virtually in compliance to the resolution of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (RIATF-EID) in order to avoid face to face meetings and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the region.
The said activity done in collaboration with DOLE 12 field offices of General Santos City, South Cotabato, Cotabato City, Sarangani, and North Cotabato aims to orient and train 145 new PESO managers on the different DOLE programs and services particularly on employment facilitation in their locality.
Further, on October 5 scheduled orientation with Cotabato City participants, DOLE 12 also shared information to six (6) personnel of the Ministry of Labor and Employment-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (MOLE-BARMM). DOLE 12 regional director Raymundo G. Agravante purposely invited the MOLE-BARMM to join in the said training to capacitate the department’s counterpart in BARMM as part of the office’s transition program.
MOLE-BARMM staff appreciated the efforts and thanked the DOLE 12 for including them in the said training as it adds information and technical knowledge in the implementation of employment programs of the Ministry in the Bangsamoro area.
“We hope that this will not be the last but the first among trainings that DOLE 12 will share with us and we hope that the next training would give us the opportunity to meet physically,” said Mohiddin Usman, one of the MOLE-BARMM participant.
“The pandemic should not hamper our Department’s delivery of programs and services and in fact we should work earnestly with our partners especially the PESOs to help and assist affected workers both in the formal and informal sectors,” said DOLE 12 Assistant Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez, Jr.
The PESO is a non-fee charging multi-dimensional employment service facility or entity established in all Local Government Units in coordination with the DOLE pursuant to Republic Act 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999. It aims to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of employment facilitation services as well as to provide timely information on labor market and DOLE programs. End/CDGamboa
