Maasim, Sarangani- In its continued mission to assist informal sector workers cope with the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 handed-over the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) starter kits amounting to P610,740.00 for thirty-six (36) beneficiaries of Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU)-Kablacan, this municipality on 11 August 2021.
No less than DOLE 12 Regional Director Raymundo Agravante together with DOLE-Sarangani Field Office OIC Domingo Baron spearheaded the said awarding of livelihood package. Also present during the release were Maasim Mayor Zyrex Pacquiao, Vice Mayor Visitacion Nambatac, Sangguniang Bayan members, and the BLGU-Kablacan officials.
Beneficiaries’ chosen livelihood undertaking include food vending (bananaque, street food), fruits retailing, mini carinderia, halo-halo refreshment, kakanin production, carwash services, beauty care, dressmaking, fishing, vulcanizing, and welding services.
“Malaki ang pasasalamat namin sa DOLE dahil patuloy ang pag-abot ng tulong pangkabuhayan sa aming bayan lalung-lalo na ngayong may pandemya,” said kakanin production project beneficiary Novelita Daygon.
“The Department is optimistic that the beneficiaries will sustain the project. Anyone who could turn this simple start-up capital into a sustainable and profitable livelihood may continue to avail of an enhancement support from us,” assured RD Agravante.
DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerabilty to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises. End/CDGamboa/MLBalongo
