Iloilo City- In pursuit of gaining new knowledge and strategies, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 together with the League of PESO Managers in Region (LPMR) 12 conducted a PESO Benchmarking, Cultural Appreciation and Study Tour in the provinces of Iloilo, Guimaras and Aklan on 19-21 February 2020.
The said benchmarking activities were purposely done to capacitate Public Employement Service Office (PESO) Managers in Region 12 and replicate best practices of PESO Iloilo, Guimaras and Aklan in Region VI.
Cyril Ticao, DOLE VI Regional Director welcomed the Region XII benchmarkers and was gracious enough in hosting the team of learners from SOCCSKARGEN.
“We are very grateful for choosing us in this learning endeavour and we hope you’ll learn some new strategies that you can readily adopt in region,” said RD Ticao.
The benchmarking team got to visit, learn new knowledge and approaches in the implementation of PESO programs and services from Iloilo, Guimaras, and Aklan.
PESO Iloilo for instance is a PESO Awards National Hall of Famer; winning such feat four times from 2016-2019. PESO Guimaras is a new PESO national winner which uniquely converges to foreign partners in aid of its employment programs for Guimars constituents. PESO Aklan on one hand, took pride in winning a national PESO Award with exemplary achievement in PESO Employment Information System (PEIS).
DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano thanked DOLE Region VI and the full support of Provincial Governments of Iloilo, Guimaras, and Aklan.
“We are here to learn and develop good linkage; recognizing the essential role of PESO in the delivery of DOLE programs and services,” said RD Cano.
The PESO is a non-fee charging multi-employment service facility or entity established or accredited pursuant to Republic Act No. 8579 otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999.
