Gen. Santos City The Dole Philippines Inc. bagged the highest award during the 1st Regional Convention of SOCCSKSARGEN Family Welfare Committees, Inc. (SFFWCI) held at Phela Grande Hotel and Convention Center, this City, on 28 February 2019.

Dole Philippines Inc. was adjudged as 1st Place in Search for Establishment/Company with Best Family Welfare Practices at the Workplace. Dole Philippines, Inc. Stanfilco Division, North Cotabato Zone came in second, General Tuna Corporation as third placer, and Norte Dame of Cotabato, the fourth placer. The four winning companies were on top of 102 companies implementing the Family Welfare Program (FWP) in region 12.

Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE-RCC) acted as judges of the said award and nominees were rated based on the 10 dimensions of FWP, namely (1) reproductive health and responsible parenthood, (2) education/gender equality, (3) spirituality or value formation, (4) income generation/livelihood/cooperative, (5) medical health care, (6) nutrition, (7) environment protection, hygiene, and sanitation, (8) sports and leisure, (9) housing, (10) transportation.

Further, Dole Philippines, Inc-SOCCSKSARGEN Zone was declared as 1st placer in the Search for Best Logo while Dole Philippines, Inc.-Stanfilco Division, North Cotabato Zone as 2nd placer.

Assistant Secretary Federico Abuan, Jr. who was present during the convention as keynote speaker handed the award to the winners together with DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano and SFFWCI president Edward Lacanilao.

“We are really thankful for the initiative of SFFWCI and the cooperation of FWP implementers in SOCCSKSARGEN in conducting this convention,” said RD Cano. He added that region 12 is set to host the upcoming Family Welfare Committees Mindanao Summit in August, this year.

FWP seeks to introduce the concept of promoting the welfare of workers and their families as a key to workplace productivity and improved worker-management relations. It is an advocacy program that draws corporate support in promoting workers’ quality of life by adopting a family centered approach in the workplace.
