Koronadal City – The Department of Labor and Employment-South Cotabato Field Office (DOLE-SCFO) recently conducted an orientation of Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program to 1,793 beneficiries of Koronadal City on 30 October and 04 November 2019 at City Hall Lobby, Brgy. General Paulino Santos Covered Court, and Brgy. Rotonda, this city.
The orientation was part of the pre-implementation phase of the TUPAD program before the beneficiaries will be deployed to their respective areas of assignment. The activity highlighted the basic information of the program and its implementing rules and regulations as well as the package of assistance which includes payment of wages and coverage/enrolment in group micro-insurance of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
Dubbed as “Basura Attack,” the beneficiaries will engage in short-term community work to provide them with emergency/temporary wage employment and will work for the period of 15 days receiving Php 311.00 as daily wage rate. The activity is one of the ten-point agenda of City Mayor Eliordo Ogena.
Mayor Ogena urged the beneficiaries to diligently perform their tasks and help the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in making Koronadal a beautifully-landscaped, garbage-free, clean and green city.
The said project was funded through the initiative of Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez of the 2nd Congressional District of South Cotabato. The implementation is through the City Government of Koronadal as DOLE Accredited Co-Partner.
“We are happy that DOLE will be instrumental in the success of city’s vision in making it a clean and green city through the implementation of our programs,” said DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano.
TUPAD is one of the components of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emrgency Employement Program (DILEEP) which provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum of 10 days but not to exceed 90 days depending on the nature of work to be performed.
