Koronadal City- To strengthen partnership and to enhance capability skills of its partners, the Department of Labor and Employment-South Cotabato Field Office (DOLE-SCFO) facilitated a half-day Capability Training for Guidance Counselors and Advocates in several institutions in South Cotabato held on 25 June 2019 at Hotel 105, this city.

Learning Sessions on National Skills Registration Program (NSRP), Philjobnet, and Public Employment Service Office-Employment Information System (PEIS) were undertaken during the said training.

Edward Mario Mondejar, the DOLE 12 Information Sytems Analyst II, gave said topics on NSRP, PJN and PEIS. He gave emphasis on the importance of the said programs in the employment of future jobseekers.Such websites and systems will help guidance counselors advocate and update job vacancies to their graduates.

Election of officers of the South Cotabato Career Guidance Counselors/Coaches Association (SOCCAGUCCA) was also done after the said learning session. SOCCAGUCCA members elected Elaine Labiao of the Notre Dame of Marbel University as their president. Arlene Bisnon, the DOLE 12 OIC-Assistant Regional Director administered the oath taking of chosen officers.

In another news, DOLE-SCFO conducted the Workers’ Organization Development Program entitled Enhancement Training on Productivity and Innovation, Tripartism and Trade Unionism towards Sound Labor-Management Relations to 27 union officers and members from different companies in South Cotabato. The said activity was held on June 27, 2019 at Hotel 105 in Koronadal City.

Topics discussed were Productivity 101 and orientation on Department Order No.198 series of 2018 or IRR of RA 11058 entitled, An act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Helath Standards and providing penalties and violations thereof. Productivity 101 was given by Faye Wee and Christine Bugando of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 12 while IRR of RA 11058 was discussed by Engr. Louie Esparagoza, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE 12.

“We maximize our resources in making our partners like guidance counselors be updated and acquainted with the new medium on online systems in helping them carry out employment promotion, said DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio Cano.

Further, we continue designing and implementing capability programs to enhance and capacitate knowledge of union members in improving labor-management relations, added RD Cano.
