In observance of the World Day Against Child Labor, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 through Regional Director Raymundo Agravante and Assistant Regional Director Arlene Bisnon signed a pledge of commitment with the ChildFund Philippines in support to end Child Labor.
Every 12th of June, World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) is celebrated all over the world to bring the plight of the child laborers in the discussion table to clamor for actions to fight the abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable children.
In support to the intention of WDACL, ChildFund Philippines implemented the Building Capacity, Awareness, advocacy, and Programs project. The said project is funded by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) that aims to capacitate the Civil Society Organizations in addressing child labor in crop agriculture particularly for banana, coconut, corn and rice sectors in the provinces of Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, and Cotabato province.
DOLE for its part has the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) which aims to remove children from child labor particularly in its worst forms. The program contributes to the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPACL) as one of the interventions in eliminating or preventing child labor.
“We are one with ChildFund and other non-government organizations, our partners who have similar wavelength and goal in achieving One Million Batang Malaya by 2025,” said RD Agravante. End/CDGamboa/ChildFundPhilippines
