Gen. Santos City- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 through its DOLE-General Santos City Field Office (DOLE-GSCFO) facilitated the orientation on Department Order No. 156-16 or the Rules and Regulations Governing the Working and Living Conditions On-board Fishing Vessels Engaged in Commercial Fishing Vessels to eighty (80) fisherfolks at Bula Gymnasium, Baranagy Bula, this city.

The said orientation was in partnership with the OND-HESED Foundation Incorporated, a civil society organization that forged collaboration with the national agencies, helping vulnerable workers in the city.

DOLE 12 Regional Director Raymundo Agravante also graced the activity and assured workers in the provision of livelihood assistance to augment their family’s income.

RD Agravante also reminded beneficiaries to sustain any aid as this is solely provided to qualified workers in battling the economic impact brought by COVID-19 pandemic.

“OND-HESED is grateful to DOLE and we promise to continue our cooperation and partnership with the Department in creating support mechanisms in uplifting the lives of fishermen in the region,” said Sister Joan Lorilla.
