Gen. Santos City – To address the mandate of the department in the promotion of gainful employment opportunities and optimization of the development and utilization of the country’s manpower resources; the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 through the support and partnership with the Local Government Unit of General Santos City had jumpstarted the Jobstart Philippines Program Wave 2019.
Jobstart Philippines is s a program for young Filipinos that seek to integrate full-cycle employment facilitation service in their school-to-work transition in order to enhance their employability.
To further improved the partnership and convergence of stakeholders involved in the implementation of the program, an Employers’ Forum was conducted on August 10, 2019 held at CEMCDO Conference Room, City Investment Building, Gen. Santos City.
The said forum organized by the City Mayor’s Office in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office was attended by 8 employers.
The would-be employers were oriented on Jobstart Porgram and its benefits to at-risk youth who are aged 18-24 and how the employers supporting the program may also provide not only employment but also opportunity to develop their skills and abilities by the trainings they will undergo as required by the employers.
The event was also attended by DOLE 12 OIC-Assistant Regional Director Arlene Bisnon and Karl Vicent Quiepo, the Chief Administrative Officer of the City Mayor’s Office.
In her message, ARD Bisnon said that partnership and convergence is a must nowadays because the government can perform and implement programs and services better with the help coming from the private sector.
“Strong partnership and convergence is already an effective strategy in implementing government projects and programs.Let us continue this trend to help our government and the beneficiaries,” said ARD Bisnon. End/CDGamboa with reports from SMDumalay
