The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello, III continued the Department’s Caravan of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers program and spearheded the payout of wages amounting to P3,435,970.00 for seven hundred four (704)  informal sector workers in SOCCSKSARGEN on 24-25 September 2021.

Labor Secretary Bello together with Undersecretary Renato Ebarle and DOLE Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Ma. Karina Trayvilla-Perida facilitated the TUPAD payout amounting to P663,000.00 for 141 beneficiaries of the Local Government Unit (LGU)-Koronadal City, P214,000.00 for 214 individuals of the LGU-Banga, P1,016,050.00 for 199 informal sector workers of the LGU-General Santos City, and P750,000.00 for 150 recipients of LGU-M’lang.

DOLE 12 Assistant Regional Director Arlene Bisnon who represented RD Raymundo Agravante and DOLE 12 officials served as witnesses of the said release of wages which happened in Koronadal City, Banga, General Santos, and Kidapawan City.

On the said 2-day regional visit, the Secretary also turned over various assistance which include the DILEEP checks amounting to P1,319,890.00 to LGU-Tantangan, P1,068,414.00 to LGU-Surallah, P5,420,051.00 to Provincial Governement Unit-Cotabato, ceremonial releases of one (1) unit tractor and accessories amounting to P993,000.00 for Malmar Agricultural Farmers’ Association (Pikit, Cotabato) and the Special Program for Employment of Students salaries representing 40 percent DOLE counterpart of LGU-Makilala youth beneficiaries, livelihood starter kits amounting to P181,900.00 for former rebels of Sarangani, Province, and certificate of availment for livelihood group project amounting to P910,337.00 for Barangay Conel Tricycle Operators-Drivers Association of General Santos City.

DOLE Secretary Bello also assured to help more vulnerable workers in General Santos City with the Department’s commitment to roll-out fishing boats for the LGU-General Santos City and negosyo karts for the Office of the 1st Congressional District of South Cotabato.

Further, Secretary Bello joined OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac on the release of Tulong PUSO program checks amounting to P400,000.00 to New Hope Poblacion Alabel OFW Association (Alabel, Sarangani), P300,000.00 for Nueva Vida OFW Association (M’lang), and P350,000.00 for Nuangan United OFW Association. OFW assistance which include Balik Pinay Balik Hanapbuhay and Tabang OFW educational grants were also handed-over to identified OFW beneficiaries in the region.
