Koronadal City- Former OFW Annaliza S. Dalumpines and currently a Barangay Health Worker in Pigcawayan, Cotabato and Celine D. Travilla from General Santos City were adjudged as Marilag Awardees for OFW-Regional Community Leader and Family Welfare Officer, respectively.
DOLE 12 ARD Arlene Bisnon who represented the Regional Director Raymundo Agravante, served as one of the jurors and helped OWWA 12 in determining this year’s winners.The recognition to extraordinary community leaders was spearheaded by OWWA 12 led by OIC-Regional Director Marilou Sumalinog.
Marilag Awards which is done annually, aims to recognize the Filipina Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW)-Regional Community Leaders and Family Welfare Officers all over the country as an acknowledgement and appreciation of their relentless efforts in providing assistance to the OWWA and its clientele.
“Marilag” is Filipino word for magnificent, beautiful, and splendid. The award also provides for a venue to recognize the achievements and sacrifices to inspire other women and to persevere for the good of their family and the community.
OWWA is attached to DOLE which has a mandate to protect the interest of OFWs and their families, providing social security, cultural services and help with employment, remittances, and legal matters. End/CDGamboa
