To continue the efforts in making the services of the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) available to the workers in the region, the Employees’ Compensation Commission-Regional Extension Unit (ECC-REU) XII reached a total of three hundred-forty (340) workers from 188 establishments and offices in the first quarter of 2021 through its in-house and onsite ECP seminars.
The ECP lecture aims to inform the public of the salient content and provisions of Presidential Decree No. 626, as amended, also known as The Employees’ Compensation and State Insurance Fund.
The orientation also centered on the coverage of self-employed workers and justification of work-related accidents and illnesses contracted by workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September 2020, the ECC Board passed Board Resolution 19-03-05 which guarantees the coverage of the self-employed workers to the benefits and services under the EC program. Self-employed workers’ coverage starts on their first EC contribution payment. Further, workers who become positive on COVID-19 can file for EC disability claim provided that the said sickness was contracted at the workplace or due to employees’ nature of work.
Workers were also briefed on the services under the services under the Quick Response Program (QRP) and Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program of ECC which highlighted the additional services that the persons with work-related disabilities can avail. The services include QRP cash assistance, physical restoration in the form of occupational therapy and provision of assistive devices, and reintegration to economic mainstream through skills and livelihood training.
“The Commission continues to improve our programs and services through research, actuarial studies, and developing new policies that would help more workers especially victims of work-related contingencies get substantial benefits and services from the EC Program,” said Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis.
