Kidapawan City- A total of 158 lucky graduating Senior High School (SHS) Students in Cotabato province were Hired on the Spot (HOTS) during the Senior High School Job Fair and Expo held at Cotabato Provincial Gymnasium, Amas, this city on March 14, 2019.
The said job facilitation was spearheaded by the Department of Education- Division of Cotabato and in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment-North Cotabato Field Office (DOLE-NCFO) and Public Employment Service Office of the Provincial Government of Cotabato.
A total of 509 would be graduating senior high school jobseekers tried their luck for a job placement from 11 local companies that participated in the job fair activity.
DOLE 12 Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano expressed his appreciation to all the local companies that participated in the job fair.
“The large number of HOTS just showed that our senior high school graduates in Cotabato are highly competitive and are job-ready,” said RD Cano.
A multi-purpose cooperative, resort and hotel in Magpet, Cotabato, and malls in Kidapawan and Koronadal cities generated the 158 HOTS in the said job fair.
Junamie Quijano, 19 years old, and a graduating SHS student from Magpet, Cotabato said the Job Fair helped her find an immediate job right before the graduation. She was hired as front office clerk of Sitio Maupot Family Resort and Hotel.
“Nalipay gid ko kay na hired ko kay gusto ko gid makapagtrabaho after ko mag graduate sa senior high school. Maayo na lang kay nagpisan ko nga mag-attend kag mag-apply,” said Quijano.
(I was really happy that I was hired because I really wanted to land a job after I graduate in senior high school. I’m glad that I was persistent and motivated in attending and applying in a job fair.)
Under the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 of the current Administration, the Job Fair aims to contribute to the achievement of employment goals by encouraging new graduates, unemployed, skilled and qualified Filipino workers, returning OFWs to participate and support the different projects of the government.
