Persons With Disability (PWD) and drug surrenderers who have completed the community-based rehabilitation program comprise the 66 beneficiaries who are set to receive various livelihood package individually from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12.
The DOLE has already granted LGU Tacurong City the eligibility to receive livelihood projects amounting to Php996,700.00 after reviewing the proposals submitted earlier.
The Certificate of Availment was awarded by DOLE Regional Director Sisinio Cano during the conduct of 2019 Kalayaan Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Job and Business Fairs on June 12, 2019, held at SM City Gensan, General Santos City.
The project is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), which gives a skilled beneficiary from the informal sector the opportunity to avail of starter kits or nego-karts amounting to P15 to P20 thousand.
Some of the individual starter kits requested by the beneficiaries were welding machines, sewing machines, carpentry tool, compressors for vulcanizing project, and carinderia package among others.
Further, the Tacurong City Terminal Vendors Association (TATVA) with 33 members, is getting another livelihood project, a water refilling station.
The project, amounting to Php500,000.00, was awarded to TATVA in a form of a certificate of availment and received by its officers.
The project is already an augmentation since individual members had already received their nego-karts in 2013. In 2016, TATVA received a project from the Local Government of Tacurong that it used in putting up a grocery store.
TATVA’s success and project sustainability had paved its way to qualify in livelihood augmentation grant.
“We want our informal sectors venture and become successful entrepreneurs. The Department will always be ready to support them and even grant augmentation to their chosen business,” said RD Cano. End/AFreno
