General Santos City – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XII through its General Santos City Field Office (GSCFO) recently facilitated the Treasures of Region 12 Job Fair on November 18, 2022, at SM Mall of GenSan.
The event was participated in by 43 companies and 5 recruitment agencies, generating 2,247 local vacancies and 320 overseas positions.
Assistant Regional Director Arlene Bisnon welcomed the participants and hoped that the Job Fair would be a venue to help jobseekers land decent jobs.
“We are also encouraging everyone to patronize the enterprises and different programs prepared by DTI. Our theme, The Future is Local, reminds us that Region 12 has top-class products and services to offer,” added ARD Bisnon.
“Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao would like to express her felicity for being part of this Job Fair. We are thankful sa DOLE sa ganitong mga opportunities, this will help us recover from the economic drought brought by the Pandemic,” said Alvin Veneracion, Executive Assistant III of the Local Government Unit of GenSan.
The event also highlighted the one-stop-service center for the frontline services provided by participating agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG).
A total of 315 jobseekers braved their way through the selection process, wherein 58 applicants were fortunate to be hired on the spot (HOTS).
Hapifah Sakilantaha, a resident of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, and a first-time jobseeker, was lucky to be one of the HOTS landing a job as a packer.
“Para sa mga katulad kong first timer, hindi masamang mag apply sa mababang posisyon. Maraming salamat DOLE,” she added.
The Job Fair is in partnership with DTI XII in the conduct of the Treasures of Region 12 Trade Expo, a six-day event showcasing the products of SOCCSKSARGEN and further aims to develop the Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) competency. End/CKBataga
